Hide Your Books—Lauren Conrad is Crafting Again
After reality starlet/author Lauren Conrad posted a book snuff film which shows her ripping into perfectly readable Lemony Snicket books to make a “storage box” (aka a hot glue gun mess) out of the spines, the internet was rightly outraged and horrified.

Conrad has since taken the original video down, but you can watch an old version below if you’re interested in seeing books get cruelly sacrificed at the altar of celebrity “crafts.”
Slate reached out to Mr. Snicket, aka Daniel Handler, for a comment on the….err….creative use of his A Series of Unfortunate Events series:

It has always been my belief that people who spend too much time with my work end up as lost souls, drained of reason, who lead lives of raving emptiness and occasional lunatic violence. What a relief it is to see this documented.

This is brilliant! I love Lemony Snicket so much. I can’t believe he responded!
What the hell was she thinking?!
I don’t really see a problem with this, I mean I get why are upset, but I wouldn’t be upset if someone did that to my books. It’s not like their aren’t thousands of copies and more being made…
Lemony Snicket has a real name?! I’m baffled. I’ve been mystified for so long. I read the Unforturnate Events series years ago. Like in third grade. They got me really hooked on reading.
This is really a bad idea. :/ For book lovers like me, this is very cruel. She is also an author but she can’t see the value of the books.
