Tris and Four are on the run in Insurgent, fleeing the aftermath of the Erudite-run simulation. They witnessed first-hand Erudite leaders’ ability to control Dauntless foot soldiers with their realistic mind control simulation. They need to alert the other factions that Erudite is capable of this kind of mind control, and to regroup and figure out why Erudite would want to sabotage Abnegation. As Tris discovers, there are certain truths that Abnegation wanted to share with all the factions that Erudite would do anything to silence. Tris and Four and a few other Divergents who are immune to the “mirage” may be the only hope for the factions to set the record straight and free everyone from not just the threat of simulation, but from the larger lies under which they all live.
