In Froi of the Exiles, Froi and Quintana don’t trust each other, and rightly so—Froi has ulterior motives for being in the Citavita. Since he is posing as one of the last-borns destined to break Charyn’s curse of sterility, he is forced to get closer than he would like to Quintana, and their short time together isn’t easily forgotten. Quintana and Froi are both surprised to find themselves susceptible to jealousy and hurt feelings that betray a deeper attachment than should be possible with so little time and so much mistrust between them. When Quintana finds out the truth about Froi’s identity, she shuts down around him, and it seems impossible to find his way back into her heart.
