“This song is perfect for Colton in The Secret Year by Jennifer Hubbard. Colton is forced to settle with only being with Julia on Friday nights in her car. They have many things dividing them such as the fact that Julia is popular, has money and a boyfriend while Colton is from “the wrong side of town.” After Julia dies in a car crash, Colton is left to grieve alone since no one knew of their secret relationship. He also has to face the idea that Julia may not have truly wanted to break up with her boyfriend. She would rant to Colton about how much she hated her boyfriend and yet she never broke up with him, not even on her last night alive–the night she was supposed to finally end everything with him. Colton is left wondering about Julia’s intentions and her so-called love for him.”
