Juliana Stone BOYS LIKE YOU Blog tour guest post

Juliana’s Top 5 Imperfect Couples in Fiction

Hey, nice to be here!  I’ve been doing blogs and interviews for several years now and I don’t think I’ve ever had this question before! So kudos for making me think.  I’ll admit that my list will be varied as I read not only YA, but adult contemporary romance, paranormal romance and middle grade.  The couples I’m going to name, to me, are imperfect but this is as much a reflection of their surroundings and the conflicts they face as they are for each other!

–Nick and Amy from Gillian Flynn’s, Gone Girl. They are just wrong period.

–R and Julie from Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion, because well, R is a zombie and Julie is not.

–Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. How much more imperfect can you be? They can’t be together because Angel will lose his soul. Le sigh…

–Jonah and Brighton from Tiffany Schmidt’s Bright Before Sunrise. Total opposites pretty much does it for me.

–Alexander and Tatiana from The Bronze Horseman.  These two are totally meant for each other, but their circumstance and World War 2 pretty much make things very inconvenient!

About Boys Like You:

Boys Like You by Juliana Stone

One mistake.

And everything changes.

For Monroe Blackwell, one small mistake has torn her family apart –leaving her empty and broken. There’s a hole in her heart that nothing can fill. That no one can fill. And a summer in Louisiana with her Grandma isn’t going to change that…

Nathan Everets knows heartache first-hand when a car accident leaves his best friend in a coma. And it’s his fault. He should be the one lying in the hospital. The one who will never play guitar again. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness, and a court-appointed job at the Blackwell B&B isn’t going to change that…

Captivating and hopeful, this achingly poignant novel brings together two lost souls struggling with grief and guilt – looking for acceptance, so they can find forgiveness.

About Juliana Stone:

Juliana Stone, author of BOYS LIKE YOU

Juliana Stone fell in love with her first book boyfriend when she was twelve. The boy was Ned, Nancy Drew’s boyfriend, and it began a lifelong obsession with books and romance. A tomboy at heart, she split her time between baseball, books, and music-three things that carried over into adulthood. She’s thrilled to be writing young adult as well as adult contemporary romance, and does so from her home somewhere in Canada.

    Great playlist!

Can you believe I haven’t read ANY of the books she listed (nor have I ever sat down and watched Buffy, gasp I know!).

BUFFY AND ANGEL!!!! YESSSSSSS! They just made my heart hurt but I love them. Total opposites just does it for me too, so I definitely need to read Bright Before Sunrise. Yay for antagonistic relationships!

Really liked the play lists! Wow… imperfect couples, I have never thought about that one. Liked the picks. Definitely something to ponder. Have a terrific weekend!

Some great lists! Buffy! R! 🙂 Also listened to a few good songs. Oh this was a fun post! Love imperfect couples and I think you also added The Bronze Horseman and Bright Before Sunrise to my book wishlist along with Boys Like You! 😀

Not my usual genre but Juliana sounds SO cool. I LOVE her picks for top 5 songs.

    Great post!

    Happy weekend.

Oh that was a hilarious list of wrong couples. You made me giggle :snort: :Love the would make the perfect summer concert 🙂

Thank you! The song from Kodaline really fits the imperfect couple theme as well. The video breaks my heart and makes me fist pump! Also, FYI, the band Ravyn’s Fall features my son 🙂

Oh, I had a good time playing that playlist!! Kept me entertained while I worked so thanks!

These are some very thoughtful choices!! I like the song “I Miss You” by Avril Lavigne, and after going through the playlist, I now have a much better idea about the story. Thanks for sharing.

Love the playlist! I’m a sucker for book and/or character playlists. Thanks for the fun guest post – I’ve never seen this topic used before either.

Boys Like You sounds amazing — this is going straight on my wish list. The fact that this lovely author mentions not only Buffy and Angel but Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Fray?? I’m in love. Seriously fantastic playlist (so many of my favorites!) and post! Thank you so much for the giveaway and for putting this book on my radar!

Cute post 😀 her new book sounds fun.

I need to check that playlist 🙂

I haven’t read or watched any of the shows/books listed with the fictional couples, but I like a bunch of the songs included.

I think this is the first I’ve heard of Boys Like You, but I’ll keep an eye out for it now!

I’ve heard A LOT about Alexander and Tatiana’s romance, but I haven’t actually read The Bronze Horseman yet. That’s definitely a title I will have to make time for this year. And I will have to check out Bright Before Sunrise! I love when opposites attract. Great song choices here, too. They’re so in sync with my own tastes. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Great pick with Bright Before SUnrise, lots of romantic tension
