Shooting has officially started on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Just Jared snagged some on-set pics of the cast all decked out in Shadowhunter gear, including Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace, Lily Collins as Clary, Kevin Zegers as Alec, and Jemima West as Isabelle.
Runes and black leather for the gang + impossibly high-heeled boots for Izzy=SUCCESS.
More photos from the set have emerged, of Lily in plain clothes as Clary, running from danger, and of Clary and Simon (played by Robbie Sheehan) hanging out. Check them out!

They look f**ing amazing! I almost forgot I hate Jamie.

They do look amazing, except for Jamie. I’ll never get over that casting, and I’ll never be able to see him as Jace. :C
I didn’t really like it at first either, but I’m used to it now(kind of like what happened when they cast Peeta). I always pictured a more Alex Petifer type, but when the casting director asked him to do it, he turned them down. I honestly think Jamie’s better than Alexander Ludwig(who was also seriously considered) would have been.
When I’m reading The Mortal Instruments, I really thought Alex Pettyfer would be the cast because for me he is more suitable in being Jace Wayland than Jamie. :3

Simon!!!! I love him, oh he’s so perfect! They cut his hair or something, cause he looks way better than he used to!
He IS perfect! I was thinking that as I looked at the pictures of him. And the height difference between him and Clary is perfect!
I’m a little bit frustrated that Izzy doesn’t appear to be as tall as she is in the books, she looks about the same height as Clary, and Izzy’s height was kind of a major factor about her personality.
I am in love with Rob as Simon!

Rob is an excellent choice for Simon! My library yelled at me so I couldn’t finish the entire first book, but from what I have read I really cannot see Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace. It’s just…ew. No, I can’t. I pictured Jace as more….masculine?
yes, I think that’s my problem with him. he kind of looks like a girl. or just really goofy. he’d be a better Simon imho. i mean if he died his hair and stuff. it’s weird, because in the books, i’m rooting for clary and jace on every page (even when i thought you know what in book one), but i think in the movie i’m going to wish she’d end up with simon!
I really don’t agree with casting for Jace or Alec!!! They just don’t fit what I saw in my head when I read the books but hopefully it’ll be better than expected!
Kevin Zeggers as Alec…I don’t like it. I pictured Alec as a teensy bit taller, a little more lanky but with muscle and having messy hair and just not so…big.
Who the hell cast Alec?!?! It’s just not him! But jace is ….
I taught that Jace is a hot guy ??and jamie isn’t hot…
that is the first thing i thought i think Xavier Samuel or Grey Damon would of been a better Jace.
I really don’t like who they cast which is crap because i was really looking forward for this.
Izzy is supposed to have back hair!!!
and she’s taller….I love how they all look but they are messing up with Isabelle :’(

He’s great as Caius, not Jace! Alex Pettyfer would a rocked my socks off!

Most of the cast does not even look like the real characters (or at least like what I thought while I was reading) and was that shadowhunter gear they were wearing???
I honestly think the only problem with “Jace” is that he looks wayyy to muture for his part. Other than that I think he will do fine! I cant wait for the movie to come out!
Oh my God, Magnus Bane is so hot. (Godfrey Gao) I didn’t expect him to look like that when I was imagining him in the book. *O* And, Alec was, too. But I really can’t see both of them having bromance, it’s just that it isn’t suitable for me. -.- Ew.
they cast clary and alec perfectly. lily collins and kevin zegers portray their characters perfectly, exactly how they should. jemima as isabelle is almost right, she shows the feisty isabelle, but lacks feminine isabelle. jamie as jace is wrong. on certain angles he looks barely tolerable, but isnt jace. at all. his english accent makes jace sounds way too formal. rob as simon is too cute, so that was also cast well.
