Catching Fire Casting News: Sam Claflin Reportedly Cast As Finnick

According to Variety, we have yet another actor, Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman) to add to the list of Finnick Odair hopefuls for the Catching Fire movie. They also report that Tony Shalhoub (Monk) will take on the role of the male District 3 tribute, Beetee.
This is definitely a RUMOR, one Lionsgate has not yet confirmed or denied, so don’t be surprised if another seven names are tossed into the ring before the role is officially cast. That being said, this movie is about to start filming, so at some point the Finnick casting fiesta HAS to end. And why not with Sam? He’s not quite what I pictured, but he’s Finnick-adjacent at least.

Agreed! He’s not right for Finnick. Too pale, too british. I don’t know. He’s fantastic, but he’s not Finnick. But to be fair, I don’t know who is.
