Miles Teller Joins The Spectacular Now

The cast for Tim Tharp’s The Spectacular Now film adaptation is coming together nicely. Miles Teller (Footloose, Rabbit Hole) has just signed on to play the lead role, the “Sutterman,” aka Sutter Keely. The “Sutterman” is a popular jock who wakes up on a stranger’s lawn after a debauched night of drinking and, after meeting an unpopular, mousy girl from school on her paper route, decides to take her on as his personal project. The girl in question? Aimee, to be played by Shailene Woodley (who could not be called mousy even if you had Sutter-sized beer goggles on, but whatevs).

James Ponsoldt (Smashed) is directing the film, which begins production this summer in Georgia.
