Are Hunger Games Fans Racist?

Sadly, it seems no Hunger Games series casting decision can be made without some sort of disappointing racist display from fans.

The latest controversy? A groundswell of online support for (unbelievably-gorgeous-how-is-this-amount-of-hotness-street-legal?) actor Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy, Cabin in the Woods) to be cast as Finnick Odair in Catching Fire resulted in some pretty loud, nasty, and undeniably racist objections.

Following the Rue/Thresh/Cinna controversy, it’s hugely disappointing to see more of this kind of behavior from fans.

The only plus side to this fiasco is that Jesse Williams is now DEFINITELY on the media’s (and by extension the casting director’s) radar.
