In this set visit video from MTV News, Max Irons gives a pretty good distillation of the conflicted romance his character Jared has with Melanie/Wanda in The Host:
“He wants to hold her, but the rational part of his mind is saying she needs to be killed.”
Apparently the old “marry/kiss/kill” game just won’t quit, even in the midst of an alien invasion.
